Hello!

We’re Oniz and Serdar, a former human resources director and a former creative director who share a deep-rooted enthusiasm for fermented bread, healthy, fresh food and speciality coffee. In 2019 we decided to change our lives and move to the UK. Just a few months later, Maya was born.

Oniz is a wine and food enthusiast. She has a culinary art degree (Cook School 2011) from the Istanbul Culinary Institute and holds a WSET Level 2 Award in Wines certificate. At Maya she lovingly makes our cakes, tarts and sweet treats (and can always be found talking to customers with a smile on her face).

Serdar is the baker. His baking journey started with the dream of making a perfect pizza dough back in 2011. Since then he has been baking non-stop, having attended many baking workshops in Istanbul and London to master the skill of pizza making and artisan bread baking. Having perfected our signature sourdough loaf, Serdar is constantly creating innovative recipes for brand new products, always with the best ingredients possible.

Over many years, Oniz and Serdar have taken gastro-inspired visits to different countries in order to taste great food right from the source, often meeting inspiring people who share their love for food.

But this passion also runs closer to home; the seeds of Maya were sown by their beloved mothers and aunties, who lent their hands and skills generously to teach Oniz and Serdar the secrets of food made from the heart.
